About Us

The Project

My Tag My Town is a Matamata-Piako District Council initiative, project managed by AlphaMedia Productions Ltd.

It is a preventative anti-tagging project, aimed at 8-12 year old students, private, public and home schooled. It aims to not only educate students to the negative effects of graffiti vandalism but also encourages them to take ownership of their community, treating the buildings and people in it, with respect. The project also opens communication between the Matamata-Piako District Council and our target audience, giving our council an opportunity to hear what students want or need in their community.

In 2009 and 2010 we visited participating schools within the Matamata-Piako and delivered a presentation. These Included an interactive presentation, and in 2009 a live Hip Hop dance, DVD, produced by AlphaMedia Productions Ltd and our very own song, MyTagMyTown, written by Morrinsville band Televator, including the talents of Nathan Tiddy, Daniel Compton, Ben Edgar and brothers Andrew and Phillip Upton.

We gifted every student with branded dog tags, wrist bands and an anti-tagging pledge card, plus great spot prizes donated by business in the Matamata-Piako. For a full list of sponsors please click here

2011 presentations are underway with a fantastic program organised. If you would like to know more just contact us via the contacts page.

In Your Community

We followed the presentations up with community projects, designed to help students become more involved in their community, a way for them to make positive tags on their towns. These are currently being conducted in Matamata, Morrinsville and Te Aroha with the assistan

ce of service groups such as Kiwanis, Rotary and Lions clubs from each community. For a full list of community projects and how you can vote for your favourite one, please click here.

2010 saw three new initiatives with a painting competition in various schools throughout the district, with the final painting presentation held at the Morrinsville Art Gallery. These painting will then be further displayed in the community at the end of 2010. Secondly a district wide individual painting competition was held, again with the final display at the Morrinsville Art Gallery. Thirdly, we held skating, boarding, BMX and scooter competitions in both Matamata and Te Aroha. These where both awesome days with many prizes and everyone a winner.

This is a three year project and plans are currently underway for year three. If you would like to become involved, click here and find out how

Ways You Can Be Involved

Community Projects:
We are seeking community projects within the Matamata-Piako for years two and three of the My Tag My Town project. These should be suitable for eight-12 year olds students. Perhaps you have a wall that is suitable for a mural or another form of art-work, you may know of a park in need of some painting or much needed attention. Don’t feel limited, perhaps you may like to oversee the building of a new park and our students can help?

What is your idea of a great community project? All ideas are welcome.

Sponsorship:
As this is a three year project, we are always seeking sponsorship for spot prizes to give out to students at our presentations. Our website has numerous competitions with prizes up for grabs. Your company logo will added to the competition website page.

We have apparel, official My Tag My Town t-shirts. If you would like to become a financial sponsor covering costs of the t-shirts and printing, your company logo will be added to the t-shirt sleeve.

Any company or individual who becomes involved in sponsorship will have their company logo or name added to all advertisements for the duration of their involvement.

Register your interest in sponsorship or show your support of the My Tag My Town project here.
